WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY)– One Wrightsville Beach business is wrapping up its 7th annual holiday tradition with record numbers to help out the community.
Jimmy’s in Wrightsville Beach hosts a bike drive every year that supports 44 different charities like toys for tots, schools, orphanages, and other organizations.
The bikes were distributed today to be delivered to a child in need.
This year was a record-breaking number of bikes collected, and Owner Jimmy Gilleece says it is all thanks to the generosity of the community.
“Last year we were shy of just 12 hundred, and this year we’re going to end up at 15 hundred. Every year is has just exceeded and exceeded expectations and we are very grateful for it,” said Jimmy Gilleece, Jimmy’s Wrightsville Beach Co-Owner.
In addition to the 15 hundred bikes, one thousand bike helmets were also raised thanks to help from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
